End of Year Message

Another “New Normal” Year at Massachusetts Baptist Multicultural Ministries (MBMM) has come to an end. Thank you to all of you who have donated and have volunteered throughout 2021. We ended this past year on a high note of empowering and transforming many lives and communities.

MBMM truly Advocates for, Celebrates, and Empowers New Americans as we seek to weave God’s love across cultures. Because of your support MBMM has been able to serve those in need in numerous ways during this year of uncertainty.

COVID-19 is still a threat for most of the vulnerable people that we serve. Together our community has grieved the loss of several pastors, family members, and friends. Many are still seriously ill. We ask that you please pray, so we can continue to minister to them.

Highlights from 2021

  • We launched the Thriving Pastoral Ministry Program to help with the personal, spiritual and professional development of ethnic pastors. Seven Ethnic Clergy groups, led by our Cultural Advocates, meet regularly to discuss and develop programming that will enable them to meet their cultural, linguistic, practical, and socio-economic challenges.

  • MBMM successfully hosted a modified outdoor version of our annual World Refugee Celebration. This event highlighted both traumatic and heart-warming Backpack Stories. We enjoyed cultural cuisine and musical performances.

  • MBMM’s ACE Center for New Americans reopened in a new, larger, more easily accessible location in downtown Lowell. In addition to much needed ongoing case management, it provides after school programs for students and opened the ACE Shoppe. The Shoppe’s mission is to provide goods (clothing, toiletries, and household necessities) to refugee and immigrant families, free of charge.

  • In conjunction with the ACE Center, we hosted several outdoor events including volleyball matches, a soccer tournament, and a Family Festival.

  • MBMM held its 10th Anniversary Gala, a wonderful evening with Women of the World’s musical entertainment, food, a silent auction, the MBMM Award, volunteer recognition, and our Annual Meeting
