Cricket Sporting Equipment Presentation

On Sunday, May 15, 2022, representatives from Massachusetts Baptist Multicultural Ministries (MBMM) and the ACE Center for New Americans met with the local Afghani refugee community of Lowell at South Common Park, Lowell, MA. The group came together to celebrate the formation of a new cricket league for interested players.

Cricket is a favorite pastime in Afghanistan. As a show of support, we purchased and presented them with sporting equipment including bats, wickets, gloves, balls, and the crucial pitch turf. Sports help to build community and allow for healthy activity. This is one way that the ACE Center supports refugees and other new Americans.

They meet every Sunday at 4pm. Feel free to stop by to watch them play, learn more about the baseball-like game, or join in a game of cricket with our newest neighbors. We hope to see you there!
